American Independence Film Festival in Krivy Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv
To celebrate 25 years of diplomatic relations, the U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce that its American Independence Film Festival will be hitting the road with its traveling festival, the aptly named, “Film Bus.” Beginning on July 7, the “Film Bus” will be rolling into Krivy Rih, with screenings in Zaporizhzhia on July 8, Kherson on July 9-11, and Mykolaiv on July 12-13.
The festival will include complimentary screenings of popular modern American documentary films, including Alive Inside, Racing Extinction, and Truck Farm, as well as a special 25th anniversary screening of the 1992 hit, A League of Their Own.
Additionally, film expert and editor of film column in online magazine www.cultprostir.ua Nadiya Zavarova will host lectures entitled, “Films that created the 21st century: dreamers and pragmatics of modern Hollywood.” In Kherson and Mykolayiv, Film Bus will offer an open master class for film professionals and aspiring filmmakers alike. Well-known Ukrainian documentary filmmaker Dmytro Tiazhlov will lead participants through the process of creating minute videos about their hometowns.
All documentary films will be shown in English with Ukrainian subtitles.
A League of Their Own will be screened in English with English subtitles.
